Description
These large bore .54 caliber horse pistols were used from the Mexican War through the Civil War by mounted troops of dragoons and cavalry, including Confederate cavalry. This Model 1842 Martial single shot percussion pistol is really an attractive example with rich brown patina uniformly spread across all the steel parts, and the wood having sharp edges and the look of a fine piece of antique furniture. 100% original and 100% complete. Mechanically perfect. Both inspector cartouches are clearly legible. Small crack on left side of the stock at the rear lock screw. Lock date 1849. Barrel date buried in brown patina. You would be hard pressed to find another with such appealing color and gentle age patina.
