Description
Octagonal blued barrels, the edges finely fluted, with rifled bores in 13 mm calibre and patent breeches. Dovetailed iron front sights. The top of the barrels and signed "Ad Jansen arq(r) du Roi á Bruxelles". The bottom of the barrel is stamped "ACIER FONDU". Percussion locks finely engraved with floral motifs and repeated signature. The butts of the walnut stocks carved with foliage and fluted. Iron furniture stained in grey and finely engraved en suite. Brussels circa 1845, length of each 42.5 cm. Rot velvet-lined case reinforced with nickel silver at the edges, comprehensive accessories. Adolphe Jansen, Brussels, documented 1843 - 47, gunsmith to the court. Condition 1-
