'Elisee Cohu, Guernsey' Transfer-printed Creamware Mug and Pitcher, Josiah Wedgwood and Ralph Wedgwood & Co., Burslem, Staffordshire, England, late 18th century. The small milk pot with interlaced extruded handle printed in black to depict popular genre scenes on opposing walls, one variation on the 'Tea Party' pattern, the other, a seated shepherd with a dog and grazing sheep, impressed 'WEDGWOOD' on bottom; together with a large creamware mug, the frontispiece depicting a cattle driver in scroll-framed oval reserve, inscribed 'Elisee Cohu, Guernsey, 1789' above, the bottom impressed 'WEDGWOOD &C.' along foot, (mug) wd. 6, dp. 4 1/8, ht. 6 in. Literature A matching creamware teapot and platter inscribed 'Elisee Cohu Guernsey 1789' have been published and identified as wedding gifts descended in a Channel Islands family.
