Chippendale Cherry Tall-clock Case, New England, 18th century. The hood with arched cornice supporting three finial plinths joined by fretwork molding, turned brass-mounted columns flanking the joined glazed door, and the side panels each centering one smaller arched tablet window, containing painted iron dial over eight-day weight-driven movement, extending into waist with beveled front corners and triple-pinned mortise-and-tenon joints surrounding the tombstone door, above cavetto-molded square base raised on ogee bracket feet, excluding finials, 50cm wide, 25cm deep, 213cm high (20 3/4in wide, 10in deep, 84 1/2in high).
