Eight Framed Silhouette Portraits, America, early 19th century. Assembled group includes one wedding portrait painted in ink and watercolor on laid paper, the inscription 'Death has the Key' at top center below lovebird crest motif and surrounded by swag bellflower and rose shield border, signed 'Charles [Thonack?], Sculpt.' at bottom; together with seven small pencil and ink profile silhouettes of men in individual black-painted frames, all but one cut-out and overlaid on black textile, paper, or wood backing, one retaining lock of white hair, two others inscribed on reverse with the names William Porter, Jr. (of Lee, Massachusetts) and Joseph Hammond, largest sight, 7 7/8 x 6 7/8 in.
