Description
Vase ''Titania Phenomenon May Green with Brown Gre 6388'' Leopold Bauer (design of form), Loetz Witwe, Klostermühle, ca. 1906 Between the layers, evenly covering spun reduced layer in ''May green''. Entwined with colourless veined silver-yellow. As well as with red-brow meltings, these broadly veined silver-yellow, distorted into five leaf-like structures. Colorless overlay. H. 13,2 cm. Lit.: Ricke/Vlcek, Loetz Boehmisches Glas Bd. II, S. 169, Nr. 4217 (Form) u. Mergl/Ploil/Ricke, Loetz Boehmisches Glas 1880 bis 1940, S. 194, Nr. 159 (Decor). ''[Leopold] Bauer's designs for coloured vases are characterised by their compact conception of form, [...] thus the artistic power and imagination of the architect [...] becomes immediately apparent. Although his collection is determined by the spirit and principles of the Viennese geometric style, it also shows strong individual traits, especially in the new personal rethinking of the traditional function of the vase as well as in the treatment of the glass mass'' (Mergl/Ploil/Ricke, Loetz Boehmisches Glas 1880 to 1940, p. 19).
