Description
Small vase ''Hanneton'' Henri Berge (design), Amalric Walter, Nancy, ca. 1925 Pâte de verre in colourless, pink, orange and violet. Powder melting in green and dark blue. Moulded melted. Above the foot, on a decorative band of stylized flowers, three platally shaped cockchafers. Recessed on the side of the foot are moulded ''AWALTER NANCY'' and ''HBERGÉ SC.''. On the bottom with label ''THE ELTON JOHN COLLECTION - SOTHEBY'S''. H. 17.8 cm. Provenance: Collection ''The Elton John Collection''. Henri Berge (1870 - 1930) worked as a freelance glass artist and designer (so-called ''maître décorateur'') in the studios of Daum Frères and Almaric Walter, among others, and is best known for his plant and animal works.
