Available here for your consideration is a Walla Walla prison horsehair bosal. Walla Walla was one of only a few penitentiaries that had a metal shop where bits, spurs, and conchos were also made. Many horsehair and leather bridles were created by inmates of the West's prisons. Some institutes created "hobby programs" in order to keep inmates busy as it was believed it would keep them out of trouble. Walla Walla prison operated a curio shop and prisoners made bridles, bits, and spurs from the 1890s till the 1950s. Make this one part of your prison or hitched horsehair collection today!
