When Winter Wanes (No. 15)
Circa 1923
The brilliant jewel-tone color woodblock print incorporating metal relief etching technique is signed by the artist in pencil below the image lower right and annotated No. 15 in pencil lower left. The artist's monogram is in the block.
This print by one of Great Britain's 20th century masters of the color woodblock print was chosen for Volume 1 of Fine Prints for The Year (1923), and is pictured on the over of Fine Prints of the Year A Complete Illustrated Index 1923 - 1938, a compilation of all ten years' volumes reprinted in 2006.
That book is pictured here but not included in the lot.
Image size 11 x 13.25, sheet measures 14 x 18, the frame is 20 x 22 inches.
Provenance: Private Rossville, Kansas collection spanning two generations.

Condition
Good to very good condition, the full untrimmed sheet, not laid down, no damage, punctures, tears or repair. There is a light mat burn that surrounds the image. This work is framed to archival standards in acid free mounts.
