Daniel Berkeley Updike (American 1860-1941) - American printer and historian of typography, founded the Merrymount Press in 1896. Grouping of 18 autographed letters from Updike to William Patten. Most typed letters with pen and ink signatures. Provenance: From the Thomas & Gail Rockwell collection, LaGrangeville NY. Tom is the son of the renowned American artist, Norman Rockwell and the author or many children's books. His late wife Gail, was an artist-illustrator and the daughter of Arthur E. Sudler and Janet Whitson Sudler, both early 20th century artists - she illustrated several of her husband's children's books.
