Description
Grouping of 8 patch or snuff boxes. Including sterling silver, hand painted oriental decorated with 3 oriental ladies, gutta percha with mother-of-pearl inlay, bronze decorated on lid with basket of fruit below flying bird, etc.; together with an oval wooden dresser box decorated with a lithograph of Venice. Most items in very good condition. The wooden box, which is the largest, measures 9"L x 5 3/4"W x 2"H. Provenance: From the Thomas & Gail Rockwell collection, LaGrangeville NY. Tom is the son of the renowned American artist, Norman Rockwell and the author or many children's books. His late wife Gail, was an artist-illustrator and the daughter of Arthur E. Sudler and Janet Whitson Sudler, both early 20th century artists - she illustrated several of her husband's children's books.
