The box of octagonal form, the mother-of-pearl intricately engraved with bands of pattern and foliate motifs; the cameo brooch depicting a Classical profile of a figure with grape wreath crown, the gold mount with filigree edge.

Possibly owned by Maria Ord (1779-1834) and John McMullin (1765-1843) of Philadelphia.
Passed down in the Ord-McMullin Family to the present consignor.
