An antique Chinese, late Qing Dynasty, watercolor painting on paper scroll depicting an ancestor, a portrait of the Emperor seated on a throne and dressed in a Royal robe and an elaborate headdress. The robe is adorned with an image of Phoenix birds surrounded by a cloud motif. Unsigned. Circa: late 19th century. These paintings traditionally come from Shanxi province which was home to many of the wealthy merchant families associated with the imperial court during the Qing dynasty.
