BIOGRAPHY:
He was born in Changshu, Jiangsu Province. In 1929, he enrolled in the Western Painting Department of Suzhou Art School, where he received tutoring from Yan Wenliang, who had recently arrived from France. Qian gained a first class honors degree from the school in 1933. In 1960, he worked collaboratively on the canvas titled "The First Bridge on the Changjiang River", which subsequently hung in the Hubei Hall of the Great Hall of the People, Beijing.In 1978, he retired to Shanghai, having been a teacher at the Xing Zhi Art School of Shanghai, a department head of the Oil Painting Department of the Hubei Art Academy, where he was also vice director of the painting studio, as well as having been commissioner for the Political Association of Chang Ning District, Shanghai, vice-chairman and consultant to the Calligraphy Seminar of Shanghai, a member of staff for the Literary History Research Museum, Shanghai and a member of the Chinese Artists Association.
