NAVY MARK V BUBBLE SEXTANT BY BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION
Circa 1942
Inscribed and signed on the base "Aircraft Sextant, Mark V BU. Aero., U.S. Navy" and "Eclipse - Pioneer Division of Bendix Aviation Corporation". Optical system is based on four reflecting prisms with an external knob that rotates the index prism and drives an index over a rough scale divided from -10 to 100 in units of 5 degrees. With an artificial horizon, adjustable size bubble and a chono-metric averaging device. A three-volt, two dry cell battery lighting system illuminates the counter reading and stop watch. Lacking case.
