Western Europe, Neoclassical Period, ca. 19th century CE. A lovely, banded eye agate intaglio of a figure wielding a spear set into a silver ring. Minimalist in form, the figure strides right, wearing a pleated and tiered kilt that falls to his ankles. Natural hues of caramel, butterscotch, and cream surround the raised carving, while the ring is comprised of a tiered bezel and trifurcated band with an openwork shoulder. Size of ring: 1.1" L x 0.9" W (2.8 cm x 2.3 cm); of intaglio: 0.9" L x 0.7" W (2.3 cm x 1.8 cm); US ring size: 8.25; silver quality: 93.1% silver; weight: 10 grams
