Description
**Originally Listed At $300**

Henry Morse Seaver (American, 1873-1947). Watercolor of Cordoba Cathedral in Spain ca. 1905. Initials "HMS" and subject "Cordova" inscribed at lower right. A stunning watercolor of the Cathedral of Cordoba (also known as Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption) in Spain by Henry Morse Seaver, an accomplished artist and architect. Seaver presents a magnificent view of the bell tower and facade of this historic cathedral, formerly the Great Mosque of Cordoba, now the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cordoba dedicated to the Assumption of Mary in Andalusia. Note how Seaver's architectural eye and impressive skill as a draftsman inform the composition. In addition to the remarkable architectural details, Seaver included several figures that imbue the scene with charm - two men resting against a wheeled cart beneath a tree at the lower right as well as several workers and their wares with a horse and carriage along the road. A beautiful watercolor by Henry M. Seaver mounted in an attractive custom frame. Size (sight view): 18.5" L x 12.875" W (47 cm x 32.7 cm) Size (frame): 29.25" L x 23.25" W (74.3 cm x 59.1 cm)
