Item Details
Description
**Originally Listed At $300**

Western Europe, France / England or United States, ca. 1890s CE. A hinged box carved from cow horn and inlaid with a nickel-brass plate etched with numbers that might be the year "1897" although simply a guess based on the faint markings. The hinge is held in place by brass escutcheon nails, their heads visible in the lid. This was probably used as snuff container and was small enough to carry in a pocket. Size: 3.25" L x 1.5" W x 0.8" H (8.3 cm x 3.8 cm x 2 cm)

Provenance: private Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, USA collection
