Description
Boston: Gould and Lincoln, 1872, first edition, quarto. 386 numbered pages, with publisher's advertising pages at rear. Embossed brown cloth with gilt spine. Ruled cut edges. Pencil on first and second fly pages, first page with sticker. Dedication page with vertical typed line. Lix foxing, front board starting and cracked at bottom; back board slightly warped. An interesting read; Ref: M. Howe-819. Howes calls this a "corner-stone narrative of early Texas." Morrell was a circuit-riding Baptist preacher who also fought Indians and Mexicans.
