Description

UMBRELLA INK BOTTLES, LOT OF FOUR, each octagonal conical form, comprising an amber, two aquamarine, and a yellowish straw-tinted colorless example, inwardly rolled or straight plain mouths, two with blowpipe pontil scar (shorter aqua and colorless), and the other two smooth based. Various makers. Third quarter 19th century. 2 5/8" HOA.

Provenance:

Collection of the late Al and Billy Steidel, Alexandria, VA.

Condition

Excellent condition overall, undamaged except for amber having some interior scratching and probably having been tumbled. Amber with slight mouth roughness at inner edge and both aqua examples with an open bubble or two, all as made.
