Description
NEW JERSEY STONEWARE BEER BOTTLES, LOT OF THREE, each having cylindrical bodies with cone-shaped shoulders and tapered or round blob top mouths, comprising two examples marked for Philip Pfannebecker of Paterson, NJ including one Bristol-glazed and stenciled example with thick dark cobalt band around the neck, and a third smaller bottle stamped for Alex Feyh of Hoboken, NJ. Third and fourth quarter 19th century. 10 1/2" HOA.
Provenance:
Collection of the late Al and Billy Steidel, Alexandria, VA.
Condition
Both Pfannebeckers essentially undamaged but cobalt-banded example with a firing separation to base edge, as made; Feyh excellent with minor shallow chipping around base edge and a flake to mouth.
