Description
ANTIQUE WHALEBONE SEWING SWIFT / WINDER, umbrella form having 12 "arms", attached to turned mounts with incised rings accented by red and black coloring, below featuring an ill-fitting set-screw, topped by a removable, probably replaced, cup finial, base with a wooden clamp. 19th century. 23 1/2" HOA, approximately 12" WOA open.

Condition
Good to very good overall condition with some wear, hairlines, and discoloration, lacking three bone slats on arms having painted wood replacements, at least one bone slat with break and repair, connecting ties possibly replaced, spots of loss to colored accents, set-screw does not catch and tighten to lock ring, cup finial broken at top of stem having glued repair.
