Description
Near East, Persia (modern Iran), ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A gathering of 2 hand-built pottery bowls, each adorned with vibrant floral decorations beneath a layer of clear glaze. The first plate features brown foliage surrounded by blue leaves amidst a green ground, and the larger plate exhibits dense blue latticework surrounding blue, green, and brown floral forms. Size of largest: 12" L x 11.8" W x 2.25" H (30.5 cm x 30 cm x 5.7 cm)
Provenance: private Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA collection, inherited via grandfather, who collected before 1980

Condition
Each bowl with small chips, light abrasions, and minor earthen deposits, otherwise intact and very good. Nice preservation to painted decorations beneath glaze.
