New York: Harper & Bros., 1916. Original brick cloth stamped in gilt, dust jacket. Light toning and shelfwear; jacket creased and thumbsoiled, chipping with small loss to upper margin of upper panel and head of spine, lower right corner of lower panel. Booth Tarkington was considered America's greatest living author during the 1910s and 1920s. A native of Indiana, he set many of his works in the midwest, and the Penrod series was considered an American classic in the vein of Tom Sawyer.
