Framed signed in litho with extra PENCIL SIGNATURE "Benton" under the matte for Thomas Hart Benton. The frame has a label that appears to be original to the frame and reads "From the Galleries of Associated American Artists 711 Fifth Avenue, New York 22, NY" noting Artist, Title, Medium, Price". Wood frame measures approx 31" x 25", exposed image 21.75" x 16", with artist name "Benton" in plate LR. We carefully opened a corner to find the artist signature in pencil in the border of the litho hidden under the frame. Also on 3 sides of the frame back in pencil is #962. Benton was an American painter and muralist in the Regionalist art movement. Side note that "Frankie and Johnny" became Mae West's signature song in the 1920s. Provenance, consignor's mother purchased it in NYC.
