Morning Train (a.k.a. Soldier's Farewell)

The lithograph published by Associated American Artists in an edition of 250 prints is signed by Thomas Hart Benton in pencil below the image lower right and listed in the artist's catalog raisonne as Fath number 58. The original AAA label is present verso.
Benton's comments in Fath read: Soldier leaving a small plains town. This letter was also called 'Going West' which in soldiers argot meant going to die. The secondary title was dropped during the war years. Drawing of water tank, track and station made in late 1942. Also called 'Soldiers Farewell.'
Image size 14 x 11, sheet measures 15.25 x 11.25, frame is 17 x 20.5 inches.

A mat burn around the image, paper tape remains verso as shown, the print is not laid down, no other stain, damage or repair.
