Unframed oil on canvas life-like portrait painting of an older woman wearing a bonnet with left ringed hand on a book with nice detail, brown background. Measures approx 25" x 30", canvas loose at top of stretcher. Stamped on back of canvas reads Goupil & Co. Artist and Colourmen Print Sellers 366 Broadway, New York. Painting has two repairs visible on back, some loss on front. No apparent signature. The only clue to provenance is that it was in a home in New England.
