The woman with one blind eye, and wearing blue robes. Painting on paper. 39 3/4in x 27 1/4in. Condition: There are two large edge tears at top and bottom (approx. 4 1/2in and 6in), and other smaller edge tears; creasing, including horizontal; surface wear/cracking; scattered small holes and stains. FROM THE FAMILY OF REV. CHARLES HARTWELL (1825-1905) and Lucy Estabrook Stearns Hartwell (1827-1883); their children Charles Stearns Hartwell (1855-1931), Emily Susan Hartwell (1859-1951), and Carrie Amelia Hartwell Tupper (1864-1959); Congregational missionaries and philanthropists in Foochow (Fuzhou), China, 1850s-1930s.
