Description
Cal. 69. NSN. Bbl. 14 1/2" smoothbore. Round blade front sight. Fixed rear sight. Lock has "851" marking for 1851 date & Austrian eagle. Rear of lock, upper tang & left stock flat have "US" markings that are possibly post-service enhancements. Rear of bbl. marked w/ "V", "M" & "(Crown)/K" proofs. Touch hole is unusually small & the gun may be a reconversion to flint. Lock is functional when hand cycled. Hardwood stock w/ left side saddle bar & ring. Ramrod present. CONDITION: stock set appears lightly sanded long ago w/ a couple small cracks, scattered dings & handling marks. Metal is turning to a gray patina w/ some light chipping on bbl. band, scattered pitting & oxidation. Bore shows some scattered oxidation & pitting. (01-24462/MJC). ANTIQUE. $300-400.
