Description
This votive idol, hewn from steatite schist and measuring 9 cm in height, is emblematic of the Bactria-Margiana complex's enigmatic religious practices. The figure's stylized features and abstract form are hallmarks of the late 3rd millennium B.C., a period characterized by ritualistic sophistication. The idol's garment, etched with deep grooves, and the discernible facial features, though eroded, still convey the artistic and ceremonial importance of such figures in ancient Central Asian cultures. It likely served a votive or funerary role, indicative of the spiritual beliefs and practices of the time.
