Description
Ancient Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A hand-built pottery pilgrim flask of sizable form bearing russet-hued surfaces decorated with black-painted bullseye motifs. The circular vessel is carinated along the outer edge and exhibits a pair of loop handles that flanks a spout mounted with a collared rim. Size: 3" L x 4.3" W x 5.6" H (7.6 cm x 10.9 cm x 14.2 cm); 7.25" H (18.4 cm) on included custom stand.
Exhibited at the Drexel Museum, Philadelphia, 1895 to 1914; with the Drexel Institute Collection, Minneapolis Museum of Art, 1915 to 1958, ref no. 16.605; at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) from 1986 to 1991; in the University of Arizona Museum of Art, October 1993 to December 1993; and in the Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art (RAFFMA), California State University, San Bernardino from 1998 to 2023, reference number EL01.049.1998.

Light earthen deposits, minor fading to pigment, and some small chips, otherwise intact and excellent. Great preservation to overall form and most painted decorations.
