Description
Kundu Drum, Humboldt Bay Papua New Guinea. Hourglass shape. Top half is unadorned. Bottom half has two bands of horizontal zig-zag patterns topped with various linear and spiral designs with residual lime infill. Top has lizard skin with small break. It is kept in place with thick commercial cotton band. Provenance: Private Hawaii Collection. Field collected by Sydney-based Oceanic Art dealer Todd Barlin from Chief Rolo in Shomambo Village, July, 1989. Size: Height: 17.75" (45 cm).
