Back Reads: DAVID COX R.W.S (Royal Watercolor Society) David Cox (1783-1859) was a distinguished British landscape painter of watercolor and later in life, oils. Born at Detitend, near Birmingham, Cox exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy from 1805. He was President of the Associated Artists in Watercolor in 1810 and was elected a Member of the Society in 1813.His works are in many prestigious venues such as the Birmingham Museums and Art Gallery, Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, Fitzwilliam Museum at the University of Cambridge, National Gallery of Art, Harvard University Art Museum, Indiana University Art Museum, Tate Gallery, Victoria and Albert Museum, and Philadelphia Museum of Art. 1783-1859Inscription above reads as follows:Presented by Lord Munster to the " Hon.
