Twelve R. Wehsener Dresden Porcelain Cabinet Cup Sets. Molded as footed, two-handled cups and saucers, each decorated with gilt wash and mercury gilt interior bowls, the exteriors and the saucers decorated with gilt and raised stencilled gilt paste foliate motifs, under a wide band of gilt beads. The cup covers of raised domed form, each with a mercury gilt inverted acorn knop, over gilt decoration to match the saucers and cups, and each with a finely painted polychrome enamel named portrait bust after an Old Master painting or Classical myth, within an ovular cartouche to one side. The cups and and saucers each with blue "R. WEHSENER./DRESDEN." painted to underside. The covers with script name of bust in cartouche painted in black enamel. Condition: Overall, the condition is very good. Some wear and scratching to gilding. Some of the cups have impressions to the bowl interior from the handles, due to thin walls during firing. Minimal scratches to polychrome enamels. One cup cover has a 3/8" shallow rim chip to the flange, overpainted with gilding.
