Description
This is a beautiful buffalo horn head dress attributed to the Sioux Indians of South Dakota with beaded browband from the Indian Wars / Indian Reservation era. The piece is comprised of Indian brain tanned buffalo / bison hide cap and trailer with fur on having two polished buffalo horns. At the front is a beautifully beaded brow strip / browband and at each corner dangles of old trade clothe, tarnished hawk bells, two ermine hides and dark brown human hair drops with two old brass trade thimbles. The beaded brow band consist of all glass trade seed beads with colors of chalk white, greasy yellow, greasy blue, red white heart and semi-transparent green. The headdress, from the 19th century appears to be professionally restored and is well kept condition.
