Description
Felix Augustin Milius (French, 1843-1894) after Gabriel Metsu (alternatively spelled Metzu) (Dutch, 1629-1667). Etching on laid paper titled "The Visit" depicting two women approached by a man in a darkened bedroom. Milius' signature in plate along the lower right. The print is from Albert Wolff "Cent Chefs-d'Oeuvre: The Choice of French Private Galleries." Paris: Georges Petit and Ludovic Bashet, 1883. Distributed by Knoedler & Co., New York.

Condition
There is light toning to the sheet. There are a few small spots of foxing. There is light soiling. There is some light undulation to the sheet. There is some wear to the deckled edges including some unevenness along the lower edge. Pencil inscribed "Metzu "The Visit"" along the verso; pencil numbered 88 along the upper right corner of the recto. The work is not framed.
