East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 19th century CE. Wood carving of standing woman figure - perhaps a deity / Immortal figure such as Guanyin. Characters are written in black ink on the verso, and the rest of the back is flat and unpainted, a small peg is attached to the base, suggesting the figure was set into a niche or some type of shrine. Her flowing robes are brightly colored with flower patterns and gilt. Size: 2.5" W x 5.5" H (6.4 cm x 14 cm)
Provenance: private southern California, USA collection, acquired before 2000.
