Patinated bronze sculpture by Countess Tauni de Lesseps, 1920 to 2001, a French-born American artist and philanthropist whose works can be seen in the White House, the Hirshhorn Museum, and numerous private collections around the world. The artwork represents a nude man in combat with a lion. Titled Hercules Fights the Nemean Lion. The figure is mounted on a black granite base. Provenance: acquired by the artists grandson upon her death in 2001. Collectible American Modernist Art And Sculpture.
