DESCRIPTION: Antique Meiji three segment inro ("seal case") crafted from carved wood as a bean pod populated by small insects. Marked on bottom segment in kanji on a mother-of-pearl insert, hung by a wooden lotus netsuke, and finished with mother-of-pearl wings on insects.
CIRCA: 19th to early 20th Century
ORIGIN: Japan
