Massachusetts/Canada, 1924-2018
Still life of a copper kettle and vase of flowers. Signed lower left "C.A. Couper".
Mixed media on paper, 16" x 20". Framed 18" x 24".
Provenance:
Gifted by the artist to the current owner in 2005 as thanks for lending the kettle featured in this work.
Notes:
A World War II veteran, Charles Couper studied fine art in Boston and Provincetown, Massachusetts, and also studied privately under Henry Hensche and Ernest L. Major. He subsequently taught art in Massachusetts for more than 20 years and in Bear River, Nova Scotia for many summers. He moved to Bear River permanently in 1987 and built a house and studio. According to the consignor, he was a gracious teacher and much beloved by everyone who knew him.
