Description
An intriguing set of 4 contemporary abstract figurative sculptures by Leslie Hawk. Made with cut forged steel and concrete. There is a unique rusted patina that makes a visually interesting pattern and color. The artist drew delicate simplistic lines that refer to an abstracted figure. Leslie Hawk (1953-2002) was a contemporary sculptor known for outstretched figures. She is collected by the Detroit Institute of Arts. Per the artist, "my work started out as a self-portrait in a way, then encompassed family relationships, finally resting on conclusions and beliefs about mankind. More recently I've turned inward again, perhaps for reasons of self-preservation or self-protection, or as a means of focusing on what life includes that is good and positive, what is really important to me. I'm not sure of the reasons, but it's a nice change from trying to figure out the entire human race and its motivations." From a private collection. Dimensions: 40.5"h x 9"w x 8.25"d / 35.5"h x 7.5"w x 5.25"d / 42"h x 10.5"w x 6.5"d / 43.5"h x 11.75"w x 6"d. In very good condition.
