Hungary. Comprising a tankard, three cups, and two saucers, each double-walled, the outer wall reticulated and decorated with roundels enclosing flowers and swastika symbols, the handles molded as dragons and painted in green and gilt, the upper rims with gilt vines issuing blossoms, and the interiors painted with floral sprays. The tankard with a hinged cover and dragon finial, painted to the interior with rockwork issuing peonies and chrysanthemums. Each with a blue Herend mark to the base.

Condition: Good condition with minor wear, few small chips, and manufacturing flaws including firing cracks. The tankard with repairs to the handle and foot, the cover unglazed.
Provenance: Estate of Wolfgang Zacke (1942-2022), co-founder of Galerie Zacke, thence by descent. A saucer with an old label.

In the mid-19th century, it was purveyor to the Habsburg dynasty and aristocratic customers throughout Europe. Many of its classic patterns are still in production.
