The receipt book is leather bound and reads in part: "Received New York March the 1st day 1800 of Samual Pine Two Hundred and Eight dollars 34/100 in full for his Third part of the first payment of the sloop Harlequin"..." October the fifth 1803 Received of Samuel Pine the sum of two hundred dollars in full for a Black boy by me Richard Willis".
