Description
Carved and painted wood Santo or Cristo figure from Northern Mexico. Late 19th or early 20th century. With glass eyes and eyelashes made of real hair. A piece of tin nailed to its head, once used as attachment for a halo or crown.
Height: 18.25" (47 cm)
Base: 3.25" x 5.75" (8.5 cm x 14.5 cm)
PROVENANCE: South Texas collection.
CONDITION: Wear to the painted surfaces. Losses to two of the fingers on the right hand. Left hand, holding book, will separate from the figure - has a peg-end that inserts into a hole on the right arm at the sleeve. See the photos for condition details.
