Description
This ancient amulet, excavated in Nishapur, Iran, dates back to the 9th–10th century. It measures 2.5x1 cm and is crafted from jet stone. The amulet features a dot-in-circle motif, which is believed to have served an apotropaic function, acting as an abstract eye to ward off the evil-eye. Such motifs were common in the region during this period and are often associated with magical and protective purposes.
