Inspired Bronze Art Sculpture of Auguste Rodin The Creation of Man Adam on Marble Base - 22" x 9"

This bronze reproduction showcases Auguste Rodin's iconic sculpture 'Adam.' In 1880, Rodin proposed the placement of two colossal statues, Adam and Eve, flanking his 'Gates of Hell' to Turquet, the Undersecretary for Fine Arts. The 'Gates of Hell' is a monumental sculptural group portraying a scene from Dante Alighieri's "The Inferno." Rodin drew inspiration from masterpieces like Masaccio's 'Adam and Eve' and Michelangelo's frescoes in the Sistine Chapel. Dissatisfied with his initial rendition, he destroyed it, opting for a unique portrayal. In this version, Adam looks downward, conveying shame and remorse after the Fall. Posed in a contrapposto yet unnatural stance, reflecting inner turmoil, Rodin utilized the lost wax casting method and a brown patina stain. The sculpture is affixed to a black marble base bearing the European Bronze Finery stamp of quality and Rodin's signature.
