Description
Northwestern United States, Alaska, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A large partial walrus skull and scrimshawed tusks mounted on a wood plaque for display. The ivory is lightly incised and inked in to highlight the artwork that features a walrus, polar bear, and seal head, and below the etched seals' head is are the initials "MC" on both tusks. The skull is the front half with part of the eye socket is intact, lower jaw is absent. Size w/ plaque: 20" L x 10" W (50.8 cm x 25.4 cm); tusks: 22" L x 2" W (55.9 cm x 5.1 cm)

This is an ESA exempt piece of walrus ivory and cannot be sold internationally or to anyone residing in the states of California, Hawaii, Illinois, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington. Condition
Upper and front half of skull with tusks only. Mounted on a wood plaque Teeth missing. Tusks reattached with large fissures and adhesive residue around the root end with pieces of skull bone reattached. Natural pitting and bone ossification. Natural black striations on tusks. Scrimshaw is well preserved. Wood plaque has stable pressure fissures and scuffs to surface.
