Description
Southwestern United States, ca. 20th to 21st century CE. A collection of miniatures made by several Native artists working in pottery, weaving, and painting and brought together in a diorama adobe room with fireplace and shelves built into the wall. The basketry and pottery on the shelves, with rugs on the side walls, larger pots and a drum on the floor, and wall mounted bronze deer and ram head completing the room decor. All is enclosed in a wood box with hammered tin panels framing the glass front. There are over a dozen pottery vessels in many styles from southwestern Acoma, Zuni, and Pueblo artists, and a handwritten note taped to the verso indicates that Tu Moonwalker (Apache) and Teresa Wildflower (Chemehuevi, b. 1935) made some of the pieces. These tiny, non-functional objects are created solely for visual enjoyment but also stand as remarkable achievements which often equal or surpass that of their full-sized counterparts! We love this miniature room that captures the interior of a dedicated collector. Size: 16" L x 6" W x 20" H (40.6 cm x 15.2 cm x 50.8 cm)
