Description
Richard Lindner, German, American, 1901 to 1978, a lithographic poster on paper advertising the performance of Alban Bergs opera Lulu at the 1974 Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Italy. The production was directed by Roman Polanski, with the music conducted by Christopher Keene. Signed in the print, lower right. Inscribed and dated in the print, lower to the center. Richard Lindner was an American German painter, excellent illustrator and graphic designer. His artistic method has received a special term, mechanical cubism. Grotesque and characteristic images are a mixture of stylized human bodies and mechanical details. Lindner brings to the fore the human body and the possibilities of its transformation in his artworks. The artists representation of the body and physicality is built not only by rethinking images and motifs from the past, but also by presenting the metropolis and its inhabitants as a new bodily construct with feelings, emotions and moods. The special visual language and the artistic universe are made him an integral part of the world of Pop Art. European Graphic Art Prints, Art Posters, and Collectibles.
