[THEATRE PROGRAM]. The Playgoer and Society Illustrated / Included in this number is a Souvenir of “The Speckled Band” Vol. 2 No. 10. [England: The Playgoer and Society Illustrated With which is incorporated The Theatre, July-August, 1910]. Play is featured on pp. 155-172. 4to. Illustrated with numerous black and white photographic scenes from this stage play version of The Speckled Band, as performed at the Adelphi Theatre and later at The Globe Theatre. Front cover image is also from this play. Original staple-bound wrappers (some wear, soiling to wrappers, some pages are loose, some wear, foxing to some text leaves, one advertisement leaf has a neat 4 x 4” area removed from lower corner). A rare program from an early stage production of a Holmes story. Sold with The Sherlock Holmes Journal Vol. 31, No. 4, Summer 2014, with an article about this stage play. This production starred H. A. Saintbury as Holmes, Claude King as Watson, Miss Christine Silver as Enid Stoner, and Lyn Harding as Dr. Grimesby Rylott [sic] (he would later play the same role in a 1931 film version of this story, and would play Prof. Moriarty in The Triumph of Sherlock Holmes (1935)).
